Soar Teacher's Gifts

I was trying to figure out what to give to my son's teacher and EA's. Because of his diabetes he has to have EA's help him test himself and bolus for his meals. We have had three amazing EA's this year and we are so grateful for the wonderful support team that Parker had this year!

A month of so ago, Parker and I decided to play with some watercolours. He made three of the four backgrounds and I made one of them. They were sitting on my desk waiting to be altered or used in a project. Voila! Teacher's gifts! I bought these cute little frames (5x7) for $3.99 each. I had the soar stamp and just embossed it with black embossing powder. I just purchased an embossing pen and that is what I used for the frame around the stamp and again, used my black embossing powder. Added some gold spray paint splatters and put them in the frame. Easy peasy! I think it took me 20 minutes to make them and I love them! I hope they love them too!

Have a great day!

One Little Word - mixed media canvases

I have been busy getting ink on my hands and I love it!!!!!

I wanted to make some canvases for my booth and wanted to make a series. I love words. They are so
powerful to me and have been instrumental on my journey.

I started with some 4x6 canvases then added some 6x9 and some 8x10s. Lots of bright colours, some new mediums (gelatos) and my go to mediums (paint, paper, ink, spray paint, rub-ons, texture paint, embossing powders, ribbon and spray inks).

What is your One Little Word? Mine changes everyday.

Have a fantastic day!

She did it anyway - mixed media canvas

"She believed she could so she did"

Love that quote. Very powerful don't you think?

Lots of my favourite colours here. Used lots of different mediums (acrylic, texture paste, water colour, ink, spray paint, stamps, rub-ons....). I struggled with the bird and feather but with some advice I like it!

Have a great day!

Mixed Media Houses

In my last post I mentioned that I have the Mixed Media Bug! So here are a few more. These ones actually ended up in my booth and I was nervous about that.

I had these houses for a while now and was inspired by Christy Tomlinson's canvas of her houses. I thought I would make some background pages that I could use on the houses. So I just grabbed a piece of paper and went to town. So much fun! Think I will make more papers like this for projects.

Thanks for stopping by!

Courage - Mixed Media Canvas

So after my first canvas I wanted to make another. I think I have the mixed media bug! Why not right? I love having ink and paint on my hands! This one I experimented a bit with the texturing paste. I have a friend who is a sailor and I wanted to make this for him. I wasn't sure if I wanted to give it to him as after my first canvas (which I loved) I wasn't sure about this one. I felt like it looked too 5th grader-ish. This is a learning process and I will embrace it! The only thing I am disappointed in with it is that I mostly covered up all the different layers of paper with paint as I kept adding to it. I will try next time to be less heavy on the paint.

For more details of it see below.

Have a great day!

Change - My first canvas!

Sorry for the lack of posts but I have been a little busy creating! I finally did it! I finally dared myself to create a canvas and I LOVE IT! It was so much fun to make! Lots of paint, paper, ephemera, lace and tonnes of techniques!

I have had this idea for so long to do a canvas with this quote and every time I envisioned a butterfly. Butterflies symbolize metamorphosis and that is where I am. I have come a long way on my journey and I needed to show case that to remind myself that I have the power. The power to wake up every day and decide how my day will be. I changed. I am forever changing. And this little piece will remind me on those days when I choose to not remember that I have the power.

Here are a few of the work in progress and some detailed shots...

Have a great day!
